UK-based lift safety specialist Memco Ltd, a leading manufacturer of light curtains for lifts, has opened a new production plant in Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Republic. The new plant will help the company's existing facility in Maidenhead to meet the increasing demand for its products.

The factory, with its 60-strong staff, is being run by Plant Manager Jan Doubal who has has previous experience of setting up a production plant in Romania.

Jan is now looking to the future; "This provides Memco with a great opportunity for expansion. We are fortunate to have such a skilled and experienced workforce to help take our plans forward."

Established in 1971, Memco is now the international market leader in the manufacture and sale of infra-red detectors for lifts. The company also produces emergency telephone systems for lifts and has recently diversified into the automatic door market with 'Memscan,' a product coupling door activation technology with video output
